Anna Sewell

The birthplace of Anna Sewell, author of the book, “Black Beauty”, is on the east side of the Market Place in Church Plain just to the south of the Old Vicarage. The house probably dates back to 1641, and though it appears to be timber-framed, the frontage was altered in 1932 when timbering, glass, brick and a mullioned window from an old building in one of Yarmouth’s Rows were added. Originally it incorporated the neighbouring cottage on the south side, but it was divided into two separate dwellings in the 18th or 19th centuries
